I used to have a shoebox from an old pair of dance shoes that read “dance” on the top; on the side it stated, “is where you find it.” As a dancer, it’s the voice, it’s the output. And one thing that’s proven true over the last few weeks is that it’s portable.
Hurricane Sandy impacted a lot of people. Including dancers. Luckily dance is something you can’t take away. You don’t need power, heat, transportation to get you to the studio, permission, scheduled classes, running water… to dance. You can just do it. These things help in life, but they don’t inhibit you from doing the one thing you treasure most and love more than anything. And that ability to express at any point in time is something I have been awaken to having experienced Sandy first hand.
Not to mention having a portabarre in a case as such comes in incredibly handy at times like this. Yes, handy during Sandy; imagine, in addition to being able to dance whenever, wherever, you were able to warm up and dance with portabarres and porta-floors wherever, whenever? Perhaps the beauty of En Pointe is shining through during crisis! You may be stuck in a snow storm. Or your car might break down; perhaps you can’t be bothered to change out of your pajamas into a leotard and tights; stay at home and practice! Practice makes perfect, and it doesn’t matter where you do it as long as you take the time to do so. En Pointe enables you to keep disciplined. En Pointe can literally be with you every step of the way.
If you haven’t done so yet, take a look at all the portable items for sale on the website; they don’t require electricity! Woohoo! Now there’s something to dance about.
